Objects of the association

EHIA´s target is to establish a common general policy for the herbal infusions trade and industry and to collaborate constructively with the competent EU authorities and other organisations involved in issues which concern the herbal infusions trade and industry, and to ensure a close contact between members and inform them about any matters related to herbal infusions, especially on the development of EU legislation.

In addition, EHIA´s task is to generally undertake any activity which is in the interest of the herbal infusions trade and industry.

EHIA has set up different working groups:

• Scientific Technical Issues

  Target is to generate scientific technical information and to share this information with interested parties.

  Focus of activities:

  • Set-up standards for product safety and food quality
  • Pesticides and contaminants
  • Microbiology
  • Hygiene
  • Functional Food

• Legal issues

  Target is to contribute towards scientific investigations and professional experience in order to set-up adequate legislation for herbal infusions.

  • Declaration of products
  • Guidelines
  • Organically grown food

• PR Issues

  Target is to inform public about the great variety of products and interested parties about scientific backgrounds.

Partner:

EHIA is a member of the Confederation of the Food and Drink Industries of the EU (CIAA), Brussels, and co-operates closely with the European Tea Committee (ETC).
